Landscape park in lieu of mining: Enhancement of city districts with an industrial past
Lippepark Hamm
The creation of a landscape park that crosses the boundaries of three city districts and covers a total area of about 220 hectares is intended to initiate structural change in the aftermath of the loss of mining. The “Lippepark Hamm” landscape park increases the quality of life in the previously highly industrialised western districts of Hamm. It establishes opportunities for freely accessible leisure, play, and sports activities at all times and it leads to a significant upgrade of this structurally weak area.
